The Hellraiser remake is going straight to Hulu, according to Bloody Disgusting. The streamer just acquired the rights from Spyglass Media Group (Who it’s worth noting also owns the upcoming SCREAM rights).

There are good and bad sides to this. Pain and pleasure. For instance, a Hulu debut does mean that they aren’t held down by a theatrical rating system in the same way they would be with a wide release. Lord knows, if there’s a place for some nasty, Gnarles Barkley, need a shower post-watch gore, it’s Hellraiser. So, in that respect… smother me in gravy, you dirty old man.

Also, it’s a positive there’s any news at all. It seems like more often these projects get announced and then not spoken about again until they’re cancelled. The move forward to Hulu does seemingly assure the Hellraiser remake is going to happen. Which, was more in doubt than usual considering an HBO Hellraiser series directed by Halloween Kills David Gordon Green was also just announced for HBO Max.

On the other hand, I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t have been far more fun to look forward to a full on, theatrical release of a Hellraiser film. Especially since so many have been disappointing, straight to DVD ass-cash grabs by Dimension under the guidance of he who shall not be named.

DON’T DEBATE WITH ME, GIRL!

I think it’ll turn out cool either way. What do you think? Comment below and make sure to check out our video below, where we discussed that one time Michael Myers almost took on Pinhead in a project that could have involved both Clive Barker and John Carpenter.
