Jean Claude Van Damme Has a Show Coming To Netflix!
Because of his big legs and karate.....he can do Netflix. No problem.
If you are a huge Jean Claude Van Damme fan like we are and you haven't headed over to Amazon to check out Jean Claude Van Johnson please do so now. The show only lasted one season for whatever reason but I found it to be a hilarious use of JCVD's underrated comedic talents.
Regardless, the great legged one, Van Damme is getting another run at an action comedy series and this time it's with a Netflix original show titled 'The Last Mercenary'. According to THR the show will be about "a mysterious former secret service agent (Van Damme) who must urgently return to the country when his estranged son is falsely accused of arms and drug trafficking by the government, following a blunder by an overzealous bureaucratand a mafia operation."
Van Damme had this to say about the project:
"The Last Mercenary is an incredibly exciting project and allows me to take on a new genre. I've always been a fan of Jean-Paul Belmondo and I hope to take up the torch of action comedy in my own way. David Charhon's script brings all these elements together in a very successful way - a beautiful story with emotion, a lot of action and a lot of humor."
No word yet on when the project will release but obviously it will be a little while. In the meantime, check out an underrated Jean Claude film that just came out a couple of years ago titled "The Bouncer". It has Van Damme in a very 'The Wrestler' type role as a beaten down body guard. Here's a whole review of it. For you, Shidoshi!
