Mel Gibson Alert! Check Out The Trailer for Hurricane Crime Flick 'Force Of Nature'

I apologize. I get really excited when I see Mel Gibson acting again. He's been in a few flicks over the past few years including 'Dragged Across Concrete' (which was fantastic) but never enough to satisfy the younger me who grew up with the 'Lethal Weapon' franchise, 'Braveheart', 'Ransom', 'Man Without A Face', 'Forever Young', 'Maverick', 'The Patriot' and 'Payback'. Oh, I'm sorry am I being long winded? Don't be mad. Here, have a french fry.

Also, here's the trailer for his new movie which we'll talk about below.

I feel conflicted. Here's the thing. Mel has had a few films go straight to video lately and in this current climate of remakes and superhero's that's where a lot of original content goes anyway. It's not the mark of lower quality it used to be. That being said this is the first film he's done in this stage of his career that's really felt like a video release. It doesn't look bad by any means and it's a far cry from a Steven Seagal bargain bin release but I'll put it this way.....I wasn't surprised that this role was originally meant for Bruce Willis. It seems more like a Bruce Willis VOD film than a Mel Gibson VOD film.

All in all though, Mel Gibson shooting bad guys during a hurricane is a concept I'd buy any day of the goddamn week. It's like 'Crawl' banged 'Lethal Weapon' and had an Emile Hirsch baby. I'm genuinely not sure what's going on with Mel's accent and from here it looks like he could have just not done an accent at all? Surely there's a necessary reason for it. I also love Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door) and Kate Bosworth rocked the shit out of 'Blue Crush'. So, ultimately, I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst with 'Force of Nature'.

The best being a fun movie that utilizes the backdrop of a hurricane to make for some cool ass action scenes and at some point the powerful workings of Gibson's emotional prowess. Yeah, I said it. Dude has the best cry eyes in the game. Did you see 'Ransom'? Or that scene in 'The Patriot' when his daughter runs towards him and he breaks for just a tiny moment? Dear Lord. The worst version of 'Force of Nature' would be....well, the difference between a Mel Gibson VOD film and a Bruce Willis one.

Thanks for reading! 'Force of Nature' will release on VOD and digital on June 30th. Please sign up for the newsletter below to get more stuff like this in your box. Also, check out our youtube channel below with this review of 'Dragged Across Concrete'. Have a great weekend!
