Trent Reznor On Scoring 'Bird Box': "A fucking waste of time"

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide the ultimate "feel badass while you're doing clerical work" scores for films such as 'The Social Network' and 'The Watchmen' HBO Series. (No, seriously. Listen to the 'Social Network' playlist the next time to you have shit to work on. It changes the entire experience. You'll feel like Morgan Freeman searching through the library in 'Seven'.)

The pair have become the hottest name in music composition, right up there with Hanz Zimmer and Alan Silvestri. Only like the angsty, 'Donnie Darko' type Alan Silvestri. Which, is rad.

I didn't know this until I read the interview Trent Reznor did for Revolver but the two apparently were responsible for the score to 2018's Sandra Bullock's post apocalyptic "horror" film 'Bird Box'. You know, the one that everyone weirdly shit their pants over?

I mean, it wasn't that bad but I still don't think anyone on planet earth understands how in Zeus' butthole that movie became so popular.

Reznor filled in the blanks on just why nobody remembers they scored the film:

"When we got immersed in it, it felt like some people were phoning it in and you're stuck with a film editor who had real bad taste. That's kind of our barricade to getting stuff in the film. And the final icing on the shit cake was we were on tour when they mixed it. And they mixed the music so low, you couldn't hear it anyway. So it was like, that was a ...(laughing) that was a fucking waste of time. Then, we thought, no one's going to see this fucking movie. And, of course, it's the hugest movie ever in Netflix."

Could you imagine having the musical genius Trent Reznor in your fucking midsts and "phoning it in"? What a bunch of ass hats. There's nothing more frustrating than pouring your hard work into something just to end up at the mercy of lazy decision makers.

Oh well. Reznor and Ross will next be scoring David Fincher's 'Mank' who you know appreciates talent when he sees it. The film is set in the forties and the two are planning on creating the score using nothing but instruments that were available during that specific time frame because ofcourse they are. Head to toe legit. You gotta feel it from the inside.
