The latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel is fixin’ to be featurin’ an old feller. Leatherface.

Speaking with Bloody Disgusting podcast The Boo Crew, Producer Fede Alvarez spilled the latest details saying It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character. It is old man Leatherface

Direct sequels to classic movies have been kind of a thing lately. That being said, is it not the best route to go with Texas Chainsaw Massacre at this point? Sequels, prequels, remakes. Movies where a hip teenager screams “Get him Cuz!” to their cousin Leatherface while he slices and dices. That happened.

A fresh start but not total restart (for a third time) could be exactly what this franchise needs.

Alvarez went on to say more exciting things about how their shooting the film. “Everything is classic, old school gags. A lot of the approach that we had with Evil Dead – never VFX, to do everything on camera. It’s a very old school approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses… it’s very similar to the original film,”

Hearing directors talk about old school film making and practical effects is my absolute shit. I only wish Fede was in the director’s chair himself as his Evil Dead remake was gnarly in all the right places for a TCM film. Also, he’s the guy who handed Stephen Lang a turkey baster. He’s not afraid to get down with the sickness. Ooh wah ah ah ah.
